Master specialization “Law and Politics of International Security” independent Master

Starting 2011-2012 the course, in collaboration with the faculty of Social sciences, will be offered as an independent master programme.

Concluding it’s visitation call in March the “Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatiecommissie (NVAO)” (Dutch- Flemish Accreditation commission) assessed the programme positively.
The Commission panel, consisting of NVAO experts, calls the course attractive and strong of content. The panel furthermore speaks of a relevant and innovative Master programme offered by a group of enthusiastic scientists: ‘It makes an interesting contribution on international security in a changing field and will be offered by an enthusiastic and experienced group of staff.’   

The panel speaks highly of the degree of involvement and experience shown by the programmes academic staff : ‘The teaching staff is truly dedicated to the new programme. They all have experience in (multidisciplinary) research and contribute to the development of their own disciplines.’

Interdisciplinary character
The panel speaks positively about the interdisciplinary character of the course: ‘This programme addresses a serious gap in existing curricula, both nationally and internationally.’
The panel however does points out that the interdisciplinary character has to remain a focus point especially concerning the elective courses and the master course thesis.
