Elies van Sliedregt appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law
From the first of September 2011 Professor mrs. Elies van Sliedregt will be appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Law at VU University.

Mrs. Sliedregt (1971) studied Law and Italian language and literature at Utrecht University. She took her doctoral thesis in 2003 at Tilburg University on the subject of Criminal Justice for the violation of Laws of War. Van Sliedregt also taught at Leiden University. From 2007 she has occupied the vacancy of professor in Criminal (Process) Law at VU University, specializing on International Criminal Law. Van Sliedregt is head of the Criminal Law section of the University and program leader of one of the faculties research programs. Furthermore, she is currently a so called Fellow of the NIAS (Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences) for the KNAW.
Elies van Sliedregt succeeds Anja Oskamp, who was appointed “rector magnificus” at the Open Universiteit in February. Willem Bouwens will remain interim-dean until the first of September.Awaiting her designation in September Elies van Sliedregt will finalize her current research line.
