Admission requirements and application Dutch students with Dutch degree
Admission requirements and application for Dutch students with a Dutch degree.
Admission requirements international students and Dutch students with an international degree
The admission requirements are as follows:
- Applicants should have at least a Bachelor's degree in Law.
- Applicants who do not have a Bachelor in Law but in another subject are still encouraged to apply, provided that they have completed at least 60 ECTS of law subjects, including some international and European Law. This may be relevant for people with e.g. political science or liberal arts degrees and ‘Law and (..)’ degrees.
- Applicants who do not meet the abovementioned requirement are also encouraged to apply, provided that they have a sound academic background and considerable experience in the field of law. AUC students are a perfect example of this group of students.
- Applicants should have a good proficiency of the English language and should be able to provide proof in this format:
IELTS: 6.5 - please note that candidates must take theAcademictest and not the General one!
TOEFL paper-based test: 580
TOEFL computer-based test: 237
TOEFL Internet-based test: 92-93
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): A&B
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): A, B&C
Exceptions are made for students who have completed their education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia or who have obtained an international Baccalaureate or European Baccalaureate diploma.
Your previous education is compared to and valued through the UK Naric comparison system and, if necessary, through the Nuffic comparison and validation programmes. Especially students from non-EU countries should factor in the possibility that a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Law could not be sufficient to enter into this LLM programme and their application could result in a rejection. The Faculty of Law does not offer any pre-Master programmes.
Application procedure and deadlines
For both Dutch and international students, it is possible to send in an application from as early as November in the academic year preceding the academic year you would like to start with the programme.
The deadlines for application for the 2012-2013 academic year:
1 April 2012 For students from outside the EU.
1 June 2012 For all other students. Please note: if international students apply after the 1st of April, we cannot guarantee accommodation for you.
