Curriculum Vitae
In 2004, Irena Rosenthal graduated in philosophy (cum laude) and law (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam. She started her PhD at the Free University In April 2004 and was appointed assistant professor in August 2008. Her thesis analyses the political liberal attempt to separate metaphysical claims from political philosophical thought and draws on the work of a.o. Foucault to develop an alternative ‘agonist-democratic’ perspective. In 2006-2007, Irena Rosenthal was Fulbright visiting scholar at the Humanities Center, Johns Hopkins University.
She is editor of Krisis, a bilingual philosophical revue Krisis; tijdschrift voor actuele filosofie/Journal for Contemporary Philosophy (www.krisis.eu) and has contributed to newspapers such as NRC Handelsblad en the literary journal De Gids.
