Magdalena holds a Master of Laws degree from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland and an LLM degree in Law in a European and Global Context from the Catolica Global School of Law in Lisbon, Portugal. Her Master thesis “Biotechnological invention - legal. economic and ethical aspects” was awarded the prize of the President of Polish Patent Office for the best thesis in the field of industrial property law.
She completed traineeships at the European Patent Office in Munich, Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris. Prior to commencing her PhD research at the VU, Magdalena worked as a lawyer in a telecommunication and IT field in Paris.
Onderzoeksactiviteiten / research activities
Magdalena Jozwiak conducts research in the programme Boundaries of Law, within the Transnational Legal Studies Department.
Her research concerns interactions between EU law, freedom of expression and the internet. In particular, she intends to focus on how the legal and cultural disparities between the countries regarding the acceptable limits of freedom of expression may impact internet regulation on national and possibly European level.
